Taylor Swift SAVES Record Store In her town!
Celebs have been doing what they can
donate money and meals to help aid people amid the financial hardships due to
the virus outbreak, but Taylor wift is personally donating money to one
Nashville record storeto help them get through these tough times.
Although many have been forced to shut
thrir doors for the foreseeable future, some have been able to continue to pay
their employees, all thanks to celebs like Taylor Swift.
Rolling Stone was first to report that
Taylor has been helping out Grimy's New & Preloved Music in her hometown
amid the economic crisis providing mony for each employee, along with three
months worth of healthcare.
According tothe magazine, this mom and
pop record store was one of many local stores that were affected by the
outbreak, and had to send all of its employees home last month after
Nashville's mayor, John Cooper issued the stay-at-home order.
One of Grimey's co-owners, Doyle
Davis, issued a statement afther reaching out to Taylor's publicist, gushing
about her generosity, saying QUOTE, " We were very surprised, and i would
have to say amazed, that Taylor reached out to us through her publicist to
offer some relief during the pandemic. I didn't even know we were on her radar,
but she really stepped up to help after the recent tornadoes that struck
Nashville and middle Tennessee, and now sh's trying to help a beloved small
business in her city."
He went on to add that Taylor offering
relief to the staff was such a generous favor, adding, "It's a huge deal
to us. This assistance from Ms. Swift helps give us a real shot at coming back
on the other side of this."
This just goes to show the lengths
that many celebrities, including Taylor, are taking to help some of their
biggest fans and businesses they truly care about.
So really quick , i gotta ask if you
guys are surprised to hear about Taylor's donation, or do you think there may
be even more businesses she's helping out under the table?
Be sure to get the conversation going
down here in the comments, but this may not come as a surprise to some as we
learned from a few lucky Swifties last week that Taylor sent them each 3000$
via Paypal to help cover some of their expenses.
The freelancer named Holly Turner
posted a screenshot of Taylor's donation to her via Twitter, writing, "i
made a post on tumblr about how i was scared i wouldn't be able to stay living
in NYC because of what corona has done to the music industry. @taylorswift13
literally single-handedly saved my ability to stay here, i cannot even believe
my eyes right now."
The record stores are just some of the
small businesses suffering due to the virus, however,Taylor's donation was part
of a wider haul to boost record store sales.
A campaign launched in the UK called
#LoveRecordStores, encourages people to purchase record online from independent
shops while we're all practicing social
distancing at home.
Elton John is also a major supporter
in thecampaign as he shared a three-minute videoin aid of record stores around
the world, saying that these shops are "a vital part of the
community."
